Updates and news Post-Operative Care
- Preventing transplanted hair from falling out until grafts are fully secured is most important. Hair is most unstable on the day of surgery, gradually adheres over time, and becomes fully secured around 10 days after surgery.
- On the day of surgery, you may experience pain and slight bleeding in the sutured area on the back of your head. If you feel pain, take a painkiller. If bleeding occurs, press the bleeding area for about 3 minutes with gauze to stop the bleeding.
- On the day of surgery, rest with your head elevated and avoid bending your head down or lying face down for long periods.
- On the day of surgery, it is encouraged to put thick towel on your pillow to prevent blood stain.
- Visit the clinic the day after surgery for shampooing and wound care. You will be instructed on how to wash your hair. From the 4th day after surgery, you can wash your hair at home as instructed.
- Dry your hair with cool air.
- Swelling around the forehead may occur for 3 to 7 days after surgery but will subside naturally. Apply ice pack on the day of surgery and the next day, and hot pack from the second day after surgery to reduce swelling. Avoid touching the swollen area with your hands, as this may worsen the swelling.
- Take the prescribed medication twice a day (after breakfast and dinner) for 5 days.
- Until the stitches are removed, if your scalp itches, avoid scratching but gently tap while shampooing.
- The stitches in the sutured area on the back of your head will be removed on the 10th day after surgery. From this day on, you can wash your hair comfortably as the hair follicles will be fully secured. If there are any remaining scabs, it is adviced to rub them off with your fingertips while shampooing.
- The transplanted hair will start to shed 1 to 2 weeks after surgery.
- The transplanted hair will begin to grow again from 4 months after surgery. It will take about a year for it to fully settle and look natural.
- Avoid excessive drinking, exercise, wearing tight hats for 10 days after surgery.
- If you experience any discomfort or have any questions after surgery, please feel free to contact the clinic at any time.
